Student Services Mission Statement

The Office of Student Services is committed to progressive partnership with Argosy University students, faculty, and staff in the achievement of its purpose. Active participation in the department’s initiatives will enable students to be confident and contributing members of the University community.

Commencement

Commencement Ceremony Coordination:

Students who are eligible to graduate can participate in the annual Commencement Ceremony. Prior to the Commencement Ceremony, an E-Newsletter detailing ceremony preparations and program information will be made available for students via their Argosy University email account.  Email the Commencement Ceremony Coordinator.

The faculty and staff at Argosy University - DC would like to congratulate all of our graduating students!

Ceremony Location and Date
The Commencement ceremony will be held at DAR Constitution Hall on Saturday, November 5, 2011. DAR Constitution Hall is located on 18th & D Streets, NW, Washington, DC 20006.

Time
• Graduates are expected to arrive at 8:30 AM for check-in, photos, and line-up.
• DAR Constitution Hall will open its doors for guest seating at 10:00 AM.
• The ceremony will begin at 11:00 AM.

Invitations
Invitations are available through Herff Jones.  Pricing information will be included in the Commencement Ceremony E-Newsletter in July.  At the present time, we do not limit the number of guests a graduate can invite, therefore NO TICKETS ARE REQUIRED.

The closest metro stop is Farragut North (Red Line).

Regalia Orders
Herff Jones is our exclusive vendor for commencement regalia.  Current pricing for regalia is listed on the Herff Jones website.  Prices are always subject to change.  All regalia is shipped directly to the student and all applicable shipping costs will be included at time of purchase.
  • Bachelor Degrees: $45.90 for cap, gown, tassel (no hood required)
  • Master Degrees: $51.80 for cap, gown, tassel, and hood
  • Doctoral Degrees: $87.40 for cap, gown, tassel, and hood

Steps to Graduate
Step 1
• Submit your Petition to Graduate by August 31st to Student Services
• Click Here to access the Petition to Graduate.
• You may email, fax, or drop-off your Petition to Graduate (Only typed petitions will be accepted)

[Note: Submitting your petition to graduate initiates the degree audit process]

Step 2
Audit of your degree
All degree requirements must be complete (see below):
• Dissertation defenses and CRP/Dissertation edits must be complete and approved with all necessary signatures.
• Dissertation approval forms must be received by the second Friday in September
• Grades must be submitted
• Internship completion letters from site supervisors must be submitted to your training department.

Step 3
Conferral of degree
• The Registrar
confers your degree
• Conferral letters are mailed to the address provided on the petition to graduate
• Diplomas are ordered and sent via mail to the address provided on the petition to graduate

Step 4
Commencement Ceremony Participation
Only students with conferred degrees can participate in the November 5, 2011 Commencement Ceremony, exception undergrad student. Undergrads need Chair approval.
To check the status of your degree conferral, please contact Student Services at 703.526.5830 or auwstuservices@argosy.edu.  Due to high email and call volume, please allow 24 - 48 hours to receive a response.
 
Regardless of your intent to participate in Commencement, students who submit a Petition to Graduate Form by the August 31st deadline will receive a Commencement Newsletter from the Office of Student Services via email to their University email account in mid-July. No commencement information will be mailed. Please check your Argosy email account often, exceptions regarding deadlines will not be made for students because they failed to check their Argosy email account. The Commencement Newsletter Content will include:
• How to order your regalia, cost, and ordering deadlines
• How to order diploma frames, announcements, rings, etc…
• On campus Commencement Events (you can attend regardless of ceremony participation)

Access to Campus After Graduation
At the end of each semester (Fall, Spring, Summer) a list of all students who have graduated will be submitted to our Datawatch Card Administrator for deactivation of student IDs.  For questions about building access after graduation contact Sharon Berry at sberry@argosy.edu.
